Programs

The Library offers FREE programs for all ages and stages of life. Our programming supports our mission to make freely available to the people of the town of Groton resources for education, enlightenment, and recreation.

Weekly Programs

All Recovery Meeting-Tuesdays, 5:30pm-6:30pm

Kingdom Recovery Center in St. Johnsbury hosts an All Recovery Meeting at the Groton Library led by Kingdom Recovery Support Coach Avery Staats. An All Recovery Meeting welcomes all who struggle with addition, are affected by addiction, and/or who support the recovery lifestyle.

Northeast Kingdom Learning Services– Wednesdays, 11:30am-2pm

NEKLS pops up at the GFPL weekly to support adult learning and career development and teach computer skills. No appointment necessary. 

Storytime & Playgroup-Thursdays, 11am-12:30pm

Storytime opens with a song, incorporates movement and stretches, and ends with playtime, a craft, and a snack. This program is geared towards children ages 0-6, and is supported by Northeast Kingdom Community Action.

TOPS Club, Inc.– Thursdays, 4:30pm

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) offers tools and programs for healthy living and weight management, with exceptional group fellowship and recognition. Have questions? Want to join in? Contact Brenda Powers: 802-584-3386 (Not Library-Led)

Crafts & Conversations– Saturdays, 9:30am

Meet up and trade tips and tricks with new and experienced yarn artists at this informal gathering at the library. 

Monthly Programs

NEKCA Housing Navigator – 2nd Wednesday Monthly, 11am-1pm

A representative from the Northeast Kingdom Community Action Housing & Homelessness Program will be at the library to connect with community members seeking housing support with possible evictions, back rent, and fuel assistance.

VT Department of Labor at the GFPL– 2nd Wednesday Monthly,11am-1pm

The Vt. Dept. of Labor offers career services assistance for job seekers and employers. 

Groton Library Book Club– 2nd Wednesday, 5pm 

Tween & Teen Night: 3rd or 4th Friday Monthly, 5-7pm 

Attention tweens, teens: Join us once a month on Fridays for FREE Pizza and a welcoming space to hang. Eat pizza, play games and hang in a safe, supportive environment. All are welcome, ages 10-19. This program is supported by 302 Cares, Pizza Donated by Sarky’s Smokehouse. 

Photography at Library Programs

Your attendance at programs sponsored by the Groton Free Public Library may be digitally recorded through photographs or video recordings. These images may be posted on our website, in our newsletter, by local newspapers or ultimately on the Internet. If you do not wish your image to be published, please notify a member of the Library staff before or immediately after the program. No individual identification will be used unless the library has a signed parental consent photo release form for those under age 16. If you have been requested to fill out a photo release form, please fill it out and return it to the library.
