Library cards are issued free of charge.
The Groton Free Public Library respects the right of privacy of all its patrons regarding the use of this Library. Library records are protected under Vermont Statute, Title 22, Chapter 4, Sections 171-173.
The total item checkout limit is 20.
Loan Period
All items, except museum passes, have a loan period of 21 days. Attraction passes must be returned after 7 days. The loan period for digital collections and non-standard formats (devices, equipment, etc.) varies.
Renewals
Items, except for museum passes, can be renewed for an additional 21 days, New books can be renewed once, unless another patron has requested it. Renew items by logging into your online library account. Items can also be renewed in person, by email, or by phone.
Returning Your Items
If the the library is closed, items can be returned by placing them in the book drop bin outside the library entrance.
Borrowers will be notified of overdue items. The Groton Free Public Library does not impose late fees. Patrons may choose to contribute a donation instead of paying a late fee.
Never Returned and Damaged Items
Current replacement value will be requested for any lost or damaged materials ($5.00 minimum).
Blocked or Suspended Cards
Groton Free Public Library cardholders who have more than three items that have not been returned by their due date will have their borrowing privileges blocked until the overdue items are returned or reduced below three.
