Communication Card

The circulation desk has a card for community members who are hard of hearing to help identify their preferences for communication.

Accessibility at the Groton Free Public Library and the Americans with Disabilities Act:

The Groton Free Public Library is an ADA compliant building.

There are two parking spots reserved in front of the building that are accessible, and are adjacent to the ramp that leads to the library’s main entrance.

The building has one lift that provides access to Alice’s Attic, our Library’s Second Floor community space Adult Non-Fiction, Vermont & Local History Collection. The lift is located to the left of the main entrance. We are happy to assist patrons in using the lift.

We have two public restrooms – one on the first floor and one in Alice’s Attic. Both of these restrooms have handrails and are ADA compliant.

The Library’s living room is home to our Memory Friendly Collection, and on display in this room is a digital wall clock that displays: Day, Month, Year, Time.

We have a print braille pamphlet about ABLE available in the library. More information about ABLE and eligibility for this program is also available on their website.

To receive services, which are free to qualifying Vermonters, fill out and submit the Application for ABLE Library Services. Physical copies of the sign up forms are available in the library.

Curbside Requests

Curbside pickup service is available for patrons with limited mobility and/or health concerns who would prefer not to enter the library building to pick up their items. There are two options for curbside pickup:

  • The curbside bin is located next to the main entrance. It is a labeled gray bin and the top lifts up.
  • Park in the Parking Lot, and give us a call to share a description of your vehicle, and a staff member will meet you in the parking lot with your books/materials.

If you have books/materials you would like to return, give them to the staff member and they will take care of them for you.
